Now that you’ve begun the process for identifying the life you REALLY want, what negative thoughts, if any, are coming up for you? What questions are you having? What doubts are creeping in? This is about the time many of us tend to put up roadblocks to our dreams, usually without even being aware that we are doing it. The thoughts and beliefs that we carry (usually unconsciously) are what hold us back from having what we want in life.

What do these negative beliefs and thoughts sound like?

Tony Robbins describes the effect of negative self-talk as people driving through life with their psychological brakes on. He attributes this to people doing one of two things – they are immobilized by the negative images they believe to be true about themselves or they are suffering the effects of powerful negative experiences – or inner critical voices, which they haven’t yet released. We harbor guilt and self-doubt. These negative images and preprogrammed comfort zones cancel out all our good intentions.

Even when we have direct evidence of health, wholeness, and success – for some reason we have trained ourselves to fall back to our default position, which involves focusing on the times when we have failed to do what we wanted, hurt someone else, or decided not to make a positive difference. Only you can answer the question as to why you choose to hold onto a negative belief. But, as you might remember in the Pre-Course, you decided to accept 100% responsibility for your life. You committed to respond differently and consciously than the dictates of your subconscious auto-pilot from your past. So, if you find that you have inadvertently created a negative focus as your default position – you now know that you have the power to choose a new perspective from which to view your life. Go ahead, break out of your comfort zone. We’ve got your back!

You are going to break out of the self-created prison of limiting beliefs, negative self image, and critical inner voices that you’ve lived with all these years. Talk about having a weight lifted off your shoulders!

In the last session, you began to use affirmations and positive self-talk to affirm having what you want as if it already exists for you. You learned to create powerful and compelling new internal visions of having, doing, and being what you desire in life. These new affirmations, thoughts, and images motivate you to take new actions, and stimulate your creative mind to come up with solutions to accelerate your wellbeing. But in this session, we’re going to learn an even more empowering Thriving Technique.

We’re going to learn to turn around a Negative Core Belief! How do you turn around a limiting belief? There are two steps in this process:

Step One: Become aware of your limiting thoughts and beliefs as they come up in the face of your positive imaginings.

Step Two: Deliberately change the thoughts from what you don’t want to what you DO want.

You will accomplish this by writing out your powerful affirmations and then listening for the Critical Voice within that attacks or ridicules the positive perspective. The key is to respond firmly, positively, and lovingly to the deeply-felt fears that are expressed. By choosing to consciously focus on the positive, even in the face of those negative voices, you harness the powerful forces of the universe. When you stay firm in your focus and perspective, you can begin to deliberately and consciously change any limiting belief or thoughts! The great news is you are in control!
